FAQ, Tips and Tricks about the new Daily Sadhana book
FAQ
What is the best way to familiarise myself with the new practice book?
We recommend that you read the introduction to the book which explains a lot about the new format of the book.
In which language is the Daily Sadhana book available?
The Daily Sadhana book is currently only available with English translation.
Translation into other languages will be available later.
Will it be translated in French / German / Spanish / Italian?
It is now being translated into other languages. We will send out news as soon as these translations are completed and become available.
How do I know which package I should order ?
The new book is available in 4 packages according to empowerments and permissions you have received. Please carefully read the description on the Dharmakosha or Zam website page and order only the package and practices you have received empowerments for.
I have all the empowerments needed for package 1, but I hope to receive other empowerment in the future. Shall I already order package 2?
No. You should order only the texts you can practice now. When you receive permission and empowerments for other practices, you can get them easily, and only need to pay shipping cost for the printed files. The book has been designed in a modular way, so it is easy to insert new sections into it.
How do I know which empowerments I have received ?
You can check on this
Rigpa wiki page
I’ve been practising Magön Chamdral during Tsok in my Rigpa centre, should I continue ?
From now on Ma Gön Chamdral should only be practised by those who have received the entrustment (katé in Tibetan) of Ma Gön Chamdral. However, there are exceptions for people who have been practising Ma Gön Chamdral regularly or took a commitment. Please ask for more updates and guidance about these new instructions at your local centre.
How do I know if I received the Katé ?
The Magön Chamdral katé was given on only 4 occasions to the Rigpa sangha:
—by Yangthang Rinpoche in Lerab Ling on 8 August 2012 as part of the 2 month retreat, to the whole assembly, and
—by Trulshik Rinpoche to very small groups of students in Lerab Ling in 1999, 2003 and 2005. People from those groups took a life-time commitment to practise it daily without fail; they know who they are!
The katé was NOT given to the general assembly by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche at Prapoutel, nor by Penor Rinpoche or Trulshik Rinpoche at Lerab Ling.
If I have received the Katé, how do I order the Magön Chamdral practice ?
Please fill this
online request form
Does Package 3 or 4 (for Dzogchen mandala students) includes Magön Chamdral?
No. Not all Dzogchen Mandala students have received the Magön Chamdral entrustment (katé). If you did receive the katé, you need to request the text separately by filling out this
form
.
I ordered the download version only but would like to order the printed version now, what should I do ?
Please email your request to the Zam team at orders@zamstore.com with following details : Zam order number for your download purchase, first name, last name and postal address ... you will be asked to pay only for the difference in price + shipping costs.
I ordered the wrong version/package, what should I do ?
If you have ordered the wrong version of the printed/download Sadhana book, please contact the Zam office at orders@zamstore.com for a replacement solution
I’ve just received a Vajrakilaya empowerment, how do I get the Vajrakilaya text for the Sadhana book ?
Please contact the Zam team at orders@zamstore.com
Tips and Tricks
iPads, iPhones and so on
The epub version will give the best experience on iDevices.
Use iBooks (available for free) to open them.
In iBooks you can adjust the font size and other formatting parameters to create the best experience for yourself.
Many people find the scroll option more comfortable than the page turning one.
You can double click on the images to enlarge.
In addition to the buttons available throughout the book, you can use the table of contents to quickly jump to different parts of the book. If needed you can also create your own bookmarks, notes and so on (please note that manually created bookmarks and notes will not transfer to new versions of the book)
There are other ebook readers available from the app store that you can explore if you wish.
Android tablets and smartphones
The epub version will give the best experience on Android devices.
Use Gitden Reader (available for free) to open them. You can also try other ebook readers available from the Google Play store, but we found that so far Gitden Reader supports most of the features best.
