What is ZAM

The name ZAM was chosen by Dzogchen Rinpoche and Sogyal Rinpoche as ZAM is the seed syllable of Dzambala the ‘god of wealth’, and it is Sogyal Rinpoche’s hope that ZAM will become a seed of prosperity for Rigpa. The term ‘wealth’ in Buddhism has different levels of meaning and, on an inner level, often refers to our buddha nature, which is the greatest richness we own.

Sogyal Rinpoche has said the word ‘ZAM’ has the meaning of a treasure store ‘where everything is plentiful’, ‘anything you want you have’, ‘everything is available there’, and he hopes that ZAM will become just that.

With this meaning in mind, ZAM aims to make available the great wealth of teachings that Sogyal Rinpoche and other great Tibetan Buddhist masters have given over the years, to benefit as many people as possible.

As well as providing a vast range of practice and teaching materials, ZAM also contributes a proportion of its turn-over to support Rigpa's ongoing activities. By buying the resources you need for your study and practice through ZAM —either in a shop or through the Internet—you will be directly contributing to the work of Rigpa and to the vision of Sogyal Rinpoche.
